Turkey has formally requested a "red notice" from Interpol for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Afek Moskovitch. The request stems from the 2010 Global Freedom Flotilla incident, where a humanitarian aid convoy attempting to reach Gaza was intercepted by Israeli forces. Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek announced the move on X, formerly Twitter. A “red notice” functions as an international request to seek out and arrest a person for extradition. This action reflects Turkey’s continued pursuit of accountability for the incident, in which multiple fatalities occurred. The Israeli government has yet to officially respond to Turkey’s request. This development potentially complicates international travel for Netanyahu and Moskovitch, should Interpol approve the notice.
