Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı announced that 258 out of 260 forest fires that erupted since July 29th have been brought under control. Fires in Balıkesir Gömeç and Mersin Gülnar are fully contained, while those in Aydın Çine and Balıkesir Susurluk are largely under control. Currently, there are no active fires posing an immediate threat, according to the Minister’s statement. However, a new forest fire has broken out on Marmara Island, prompting an immediate response from firefighting crews. Reports indicate the flames are approaching residential areas, and teams are actively working to contain the blaze. The situation on Marmara Island is developing, with efforts focused on protecting homes and preventing further spread.
