Turkey’s Ministry of National Education (MEB) has established over 11,000 “University Preference Counseling Units” nationwide to assist students navigating the university placement process following the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS). This initiative aims to provide comprehensive support to students as they make crucial decisions about their higher education paths. The units will offer guidance on selecting appropriate programs and universities based on students’ scores and interests. This large-scale effort underscores the MEB’s commitment to ensuring students receive informed advice during this pivotal stage. The counseling units are intended to streamline the university application process and maximize successful placements. This support system is being rolled out across the country to reach as many YKS candidates as possible. Ultimately, the MEB hopes to increase student satisfaction with their university choices.
