Turkish authorities are actively investigating the cause of numerous forest fires that have erupted across 16 provinces since June 1st. Justice Minister Akin Gurlek announced on Sunday that legal proceedings are underway concerning 44 separate fires. To date, authorities have identified 29 suspects allegedly linked to the blazes. Six individuals have already been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation. The fires have raised concerns about potential arson, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Gurlek’s statement underscores the government's commitment to holding those responsible accountable for the widespread damage. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full extent of the damage and prevent further outbreaks.
