The city of Istanbul experienced intense torrential rainfall, resulting in widespread flooding and significant damage. The downpour paralyzed city traffic during the evening rush hour, prompting emergency services to respond across the city. The Governor of Istanbul’s office reported interventions at homes, businesses, and involving numerous vehicles. Authorities received reports of over 800 homes, approximately 280 businesses, and more than 70 vehicles affected by the flooding. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in the Omerli district of Beykoz, on the Asian side of Istanbul. Schools have been closed as a result of the severe weather conditions.
