Over 300 households and local businesses in Turkana Central sub-county, Kenya, are now receiving electricity thanks to newly established solar-powered mini-grids. The project is the result of a collaborative funding effort between the European Union, the governments of France and the United Kingdom, and the Turkana County Government. Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai and EU Ambassador Henriette Geiger, alongside French Ambassador Arnaud Suquet, recently marked the initiative’s progress. The mini-grids aim to improve access to reliable energy in a remote region, fostering economic development and enhancing quality of life. This initiative represents a commitment to sustainable energy solutions in underserved communities. Further details regarding the project’s long-term impact and expansion plans were discussed during the visit.
