The Tunisian parliament, the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (ARP), approved a €110 million loan agreement on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The loan, secured with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERD), will be used to modernize the Compagnie des Phosphates de Gafsa (CPG). The agreement was initially concluded on November 3, 2025, between Tunisia and the BERD. This funding aims to revitalize the crucial phosphate industry in Tunisia. The modernization efforts are expected to improve the CPG’s operational efficiency and overall competitiveness.
