Toyota has become the first automotive company to obtain a RIGI (Régimen de Incentivos a la Gran Inversión) and plans to invest US$1.3 billion in the manufacturing of electric vehicles. Production will primarily focus on exports, with 70% of the output destined for international markets. The company projects annual sales of US$1.280 billion from this venture. Manufacturing will take place at the existing plant in Zárate. While the RIGI has been secured, the final investment decision still requires approval from Toyota’s leadership. This move signifies a major commitment to electric vehicle production within Argentina's automotive sector. The investment is expected to bolster the Argentinian economy and create new employment opportunities in the Zárate region.
