King Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I has officially ascended to the Tooro throne in Fort Portal, Uganda, following the completion of traditional rituals. These rituals marked the end of the mourning period for the previous king, Oyo. The coronation process included a symbolic mock fight and a night procession through Mugabante. King Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma then performed the key ritual of spearing a symbolic target, signifying his acceptance of the kingship. The ceremonies signify a new era for the Tooro Kingdom. The event was reported by The Independent Uganda and URN. This marks the formal crowning of the new monarch after a period of transition.
