The Tanzania Industrial Research and Development Organisation (TIRDO) is intensifying its efforts to promote value addition within the agricultural sector. To achieve this, the organization has facilitated the construction of seven solar dryers across various regions of the country. A new solar dryer is currently being developed in Mbagala, Dar es Salaam, forL for a private entrepreneur. These facilities are specifically designed to help farmers and entrepreneurs curb significant postharvest losses. By improving drying techniques, TIRDO aims to preserve crop quality and increase market value. The initiative reflects a growing demand for efficient food preservation technologies in Tanzania. This strategic expansion supports the broader goal of enhancing national food security.
