Over 200 species of tiny wasps within the *Trichogramma* genus are globally distributed and represent a promising natural solution for controlling agricultural pests. These wasps are largely unnoticed by the general public, yet play a crucial role in ecosystems. Researchers, including those at Andalas University’s Faculty of Agriculture, are studying these wasps for their potential in biological pest control. The wasps parasitize the eggs of destructive insects, effectively reducing pest populations without the use of chemical pesticides. This offers a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to crop protection. Further research is ongoing to fully understand and utilize the capabilities of these beneficial insects in agriculture.
