A lightning strike in the Kamalpur village of Moulvibazar’s Rajnagar Upazila, Bangladesh, claimed the lives of three fishermen on Thursday, June 18th. The men were fishing in a haor (wetland) when they were struck by lightning during the afternoon. Victims have been identified as Hamid Mia (45), Sabir Ali (40), and Kabil Mia (50), with Kabil and Hamid being brothers. All three were residents of Kamalpur village within the Uttarbagh Union. Authorities have confirmed the incident and are providing support to the families of the deceased. This incident highlights the dangers faced by fishermen during monsoon season in the region, when lightning storms are common.
