Three climbers have died on Gran Paradiso, a mountain in the Italian Alps, according to Italian news agency Ansa. The climbers began their ascent of the over 4,000-meter peak early yesterday morning and failed to return as expected. Authorities were alerted and a search operation was launched, utilizing a GPS signal from one of the climbers to locate their bodies. Rescue teams reached the location by helicopter. Preliminary investigations suggest one climber fell, triggering a fall that pulled the other two down the mountain via their rope. The Gran Paradiso climb is considered challenging, requiring significant physical fitness, technical climbing skills, and local knowledge.
