Dutch police have arrested three men aged 20 to 36 for the abduction and hostage-taking of a 37-year-old Spanish national. The victim was kidnapped in Pernis on February 15 and held for several days in a Rotterdam garage and a Utrecht apartment. During his captivity, the man was subjected to severe physical abuse. He managed to escape on February 24 and immediately alerted the authorities. Police believe the kidnapping was motivated by a dispute over drugs. The latest arrests followed public appeals on the television program Opsporing Verzocht. Subsequent raids in Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, and Pernis led to the discovery of a firearm.
