On July 5, 1996, the Roslin Institute in Scotland achieved a historic scientific milestone. A sheep named Dolly was born as the first mammal ever cloned from an adult cell. This breakthrough demonstrated a method that is theoretically applicable to humans, sparking numerous ethical questions. While the achievement was celebrated, Dolly's unique biology may have come with a cost. She lived a significantly shorter life than typical sheep of her breed. Consequently, the famous clone had to be euthanized in February 2003. She was only six years old at the time of her death.
