Greek-American journalist and professor Dody Tsiantar will exhibit her photographic series, “Doors of Thessaloniki,” at the Chalkos Gallery next week. The exhibition focuses on doors throughout the city as a means of exploring and documenting Thessaloniki’s history and character. Tsiantar’s work highlights the often-overlooked significance of doors in everyday life, presenting a unique perspective on the urban landscape. She has made a practice of photographing doors wherever she travels, viewing them as symbolic entryways into stories and memories. The exhibition promises a visual journey through the city’s past, revealed through its architectural details. It offers a fresh and intimate look at Thessaloniki, beyond its more prominent landmarks.
