The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects Thailand’s economy to grow by 2.1% in 2026. This growth rate is anticipated to be among the lowest in the ASEAN region. According to the IMF’s October 2026 World Economic Outlook, released in Bangkok during the IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings, only Myanmar and Brunei are forecast to have slower growth. The report suggests Vietnam will lead growth within Southeast Asia. The forecasts indicate a relatively sluggish economic outlook for Thailand compared to its regional peers. These projections were initially published by Khaosod English.
