Extensive flooding is impacting more than 2.6 million people across 29 provinces in Thailand, including all 50 districts of Bangkok, as of September 29th. Authorities have confirmed 22 deaths related to the ongoing disaster. According to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) director-general Teerapat Kachamat, the flooding is a result of heavy to very heavy rainfall across numerous areas. Compounding the issue, significant water flow from the North is moving south, exacerbating the situation. The Khaosod English reported the initial findings from the DDPM. This widespread flooding poses significant challenges for Thailand, requiring considerable disaster relief efforts.
