An 18-year-old Texas student has engineered a unique digester utilizing ants to tackle food waste. The system harnesses the natural decomposition abilities of ants, specifically the *Camponotus castaneus* species, to break down organic materials. This innovative approach aims to diminish the amount of food waste sent to landfills, thereby lowering harmful methane emissions. Initial testing of the prototype revealed an impressive 83% efficiency rate. The project demonstrates a novel, biologically-driven solution for managing discarded food.
