Bangladesh has seen an 11.86 percent increase in the number of registered taxpayers – both individuals and organizations – for the fiscal year 2025-26, according to Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. The total number of registered taxpayers has risen to 13.829 million, an increase of 1.465 million compared to the previous fiscal year. This growth indicates a broadening of the tax base within the country. The announcement was made during discussions in the second session of the 13th National Parliament. Details regarding the factors contributing to this increase were not immediately available. This rise in taxpayers is expected to positively impact government revenue collection in the coming year. The government anticipates increased revenue as a result of the expanded taxpayer pool.
