Tanzania’s government successfully processed over 181,000 contract awards totaling 14.5 trillion Tanzanian Shillings (approximately $5.6 billion USD) through its National e-Procurement System (NeST) during the 2025/26 financial year. The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) announced the figures, highlighting a significant step forward in modernizing public procurement processes. This digital transformation aims to improve efficiency, making government contracting faster and more streamlined. A core benefit is increased transparency, allowing for greater public oversight of spending. The NeST system also promotes accountability within the public procurement sector.
