Mining Engineering Services Tanzania Limited (MES) is investing 35 billion Tanzanian shillings (approximately $13 million USD) into a new manufacturing facility in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam. This investment aims to decrease Tanzania’s dependence on imported supplies for underground mining operations. The new facility, a greenfield project, will focus on the local production of these essential mining consumables. MES is a member of the VINMART Group of Companies. This venture is expected to boost the Tanzanian economy and create local jobs within the mining sector. The facility is currently under development and represents a significant step towards self-sufficiency in the country’s mining supply chain. This initiative demonstrates a commitment to strengthening domestic industries and reducing reliance on foreign imports.
