Tanzania plans to leverage the 2026 SACCA Congress, hosted in Dodoma, to demonstrate the resilience and growing capacity of its cooperative sector. Agriculture Minister Daniel Chongolo announced on Thursday that the event will be a platform to attract investment into Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOS) across Tanzania. The government aims to position SACCOS as a vital financial resource for key demographics including farmers, young people, women, and small business owners. Currently, the sector manages a substantial circulation exceeding 2 trillion Tanzanian Shillings. This initiative underscores Tanzania's commitment to bolstering its cooperative financial institutions. The Congress presents an opportunity to strengthen SACCOS’ role in driving economic growth and financial inclusion throughout the nation.
