Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) has successfully restored five MGR locomotives at its Morogoro workshop. This restoration is projected to improve railway operations across the country. The move intends to decrease the TRC’s dependence on expensive external maintenance providers. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Investment (PIC), under Chairman Masanja Kadogosa, recently inspected the workshop and acknowledged the progress. The refurbishment is expected to generate significant cost savings for the railway corporation. This initiative represents a step towards greater self-sufficiency in maintaining TRC’s locomotive fleet.
