Members of Parliament in Tanzania are calling on the government to establish a dedicated land bank to address a critical shortage of housing for public servants. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Administration, Constitution and Legal Affairs, led by Deputy Chairperson Edwin Swalle, believes this will streamline housing projects in Tanzania. Currently, construction delays and high costs are exacerbating the issue, with an estimated deficit of over 219,000 houses nationwide. A land bank would proactively secure land for development, potentially reducing both construction timelines and expenses. This initiative aims to improve housing access for public sector employees across Tanzania. The call for a land bank was made during a recent visit and reported through Daily News.
