Tanzania’s Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Ambassador Dr Bashiru Kakurwa, has removed the requirement for livestock traders in DAR ES SALAAM and across the country to present a power of attorney from licensed animal owners during transport. The Minister stated the rule lacked both legal and regulatory foundation and was actively obstructing business operations. The decision, announced on Wednesday, aims to ease burdens on traders and facilitate smoother livestock movement. Dr Bashiru highlighted the impediment the power of attorney caused, and the scrapping of the rule is intended to stimulate the sector. This change seeks to foster a more enabling environment for those involved in the livestock trade in Tanzania. The move follows concerns raised by traders regarding the unnecessary bureaucratic hurdle.
