The Tanzanian government is investing 70 billion Tanzanian Shillings (approximately $27 million USD) into the National Institute of Transport (NIT). This substantial funding will establish a dedicated Centre of Excellence for Aviation. The initiative aims to enhance Tanzania’s ability to train qualified aviation professionals domestically. Currently, Tanzania relies heavily on sending students abroad for specialized aviation training. This new center will reduce that dependence and build local expertise. The project’s goal is to bolster the nation's overall aviation sector and support its continued growth. Details of the investment were shared with journalists in Dodoma during a review of the institute’s achievements for the upcoming financial year.
