The Tanzanian government has allocated 135.8 billion Tanzanian shillings (approximately $57 million USD) in loans to over 13,000 groups across the country. These loans are intended to economically empower youth, women, and people with disabilities. Funding is sourced from 10 percent of local council revenue. Finance Minister Dr. Hamisi Mussa Omar announced the disbursement, stating it reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to citizen economic development. The loan program is set to continue until April 2026, with further disbursements expected. This initiative aims to foster financial inclusion and support entrepreneurship within these key demographics. The funds are expected to stimulate local economies and improve livelihoods.
