Syria has formally requested an independent investigation into the sinking of a cargo ship in the Black Sea. The call was directed to the International Maritime Organization and Bulgarian authorities, as the incident occurred in the Black Sea. Ten crew members were aboard the vessel, with nine identified as Syrian nationals – all currently missing. Syrian officials have expressed concern that search and rescue operations were prematurely halted. Mazen Aloush, a director at the Syrian General Authority for Ports and Customs, emphasized the need to determine the reasons for ceasing the search before the crew's fate is known. Syria seeks clarity and accountability regarding the circumstances surrounding the ship’s sinking and the subsequent search efforts in the Black Sea.
