A trio of artists from Gothenburg, Sweden, are presenting an exhibition in Töölö, Helsinki, designed to evoke the feeling of being scrutinized. The artwork utilizes drag performance as a medium to explore the experience of being the object of attention. The exhibition aims to replicate the discomfort associated with the “Nordic gaze,” a perceived cultural phenomenon of intense observation. By dressing Finnish individuals in drag, the artists intend to allow viewers to experience this sensation firsthand. The project seeks to challenge perceptions and provoke dialogue surrounding cultural observation and discomfort. The exhibition is currently open to the public in Töölö. It offers a unique perspective on social dynamics within the Nordic region.
