Sweden has approved the transfer of a Russian-linked cargo ship to Ukraine, following a Supreme Court rejection of the ship owner’s appeal. The vessel, seized in March, is suspected by Ukraine of transporting grain stolen from occupied territories. Caffa Shipping Ltd., the ship’s owner, attempted to block the handover but their appeal was denied on August 4th. Swedish court documents accessed by AFP confirm the decision to comply with Ukraine's request. Ukraine believes the ship was part of a “shadow fleet” used to circumvent sanctions and illegally export stolen grain. This transfer represents a significant step in supporting Ukraine’s efforts to combat alleged Russian theft and bolster its economy. The handover is expected to aid investigations into the origin and transport of the grain.
