NASA explains this isn’t an actual size change, as photos reveal the moon's apparent width remains consistent regardless of its position in the sky. The illusion occurs as the moon sits low on the horizon. This full moon is also referred to as the “Buck Moon,” linked to the time of year when male deer grow new antlers.
