As temperatures rise and outdoor grilling becomes more common, emergency services are reminding the public about potential hazards and necessary first aid. The Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) highlights that burns from hot coals and grill surfaces are a frequent summer injury. Equally concerning is the risk of choking while consuming grilled meat. Miķelis Puķītis of the NMPD’s First Aid Training System Organisation Department has provided guidance on how to respond to both scenarios. Knowing basic first aid procedures for burns and choking can significantly improve outcomes in these potentially dangerous situations. The NMPD encourages individuals to familiarize themselves with these techniques before engaging in outdoor cooking. Prompt and correct action is crucial when accidents occur.
