Medical charity MSF has warned that Sudan’s healthcare system is on the brink of collapse, with over a third of the country’s health facilities currently nonoperational. This deterioration is directly linked to significant cuts in aid, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation within Sudan. The lack of functional facilities severely limits access to essential medical care for the population. These cuts are impacting all levels of healthcare provision, leading to shortages of staff, medicine, and vital equipment throughout Sudan. MSF expressed deep concern over the potential consequences for public health, particularly for vulnerable groups. The charity is calling for an immediate increase in humanitarian assistance to prevent a complete breakdown of the healthcare system in Sudan.
