Four Senegalese students, including the son of a financial crimes court magistrate, are under investigation for the theft of 100 million FCFA (approximately $160,000 USD). The group allegedly targeted a vehicle near the Senegal-Japan Center, using deception to steal the money from the vehicle’s owner, identified as A. Ndiaye. Evidence emerged after a video circulated on Snapchat showing one suspect, Mouhamadou Lamine Sy, displaying large sums of cash and luxury items. Police recovered 25.475.000 FCFA during the arrests. Sy initially claimed the money came from his father, attempting to mislead investigators, but the claim was disproven after Ndiaye filed a complaint detailing the orchestrated robbery. Ndiaye stated the funds were from a real estate transaction, a claim currently under investigation by authorities.
