Student activists from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-aligned student wing, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), protested at Jahangirnagar University on Sunday, June 14th, demanding justice and an end to alleged misconduct. The demonstration centered around accusations that the Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, fabricated incidents of abduction and disappearance to falsely implicate the government. Protesters allege these staged events are a distraction from internal crimes committed by Shibir members, including rape and sexual assault perpetrated by undercover operatives. The protest began at the university’s transport area and proceeded through campus roads, culminating at the Shaheed Minar memorial. Demonstrators are calling for accountability regarding the alleged abuses and an investigation into the claims of fabricated incidents. The JCD aims to highlight what they describe as a pattern of deceptive tactics employed by their political opponents.
