College student Lillie Vehling is being hailed a hero after rescuing three girls who were struggling in Lake Washington during the recent Seafair weekend. Noticing the girls beyond the designated buoy line, Vehling quickly swam to their aid. Leveraging her skills as a former lifeguard and water polo player, she brought each girl to safety individually. First responders provided necessary medical attention following the successful rescue effort. Seafair organizers recognized Vehling’s courageous actions by bestowing upon her the title of "Lady Guardian of Lake Washington." Her quick thinking and bravery prevented a potential tragedy on the lake.
