An orca, commonly known as a killer whale, has died after stranding on Matansal Reef. The incident occurred at Palinmon in the Tanga Islands of New Ireland Province. According to local LLG President Roland Funmat, the whale was still alive upon reaching the reef. The animal was reported to be injured prior to its death. This event took place within Ward One of Taonsip. Local authorities have confirmed the loss of the marine mammal. The report was first documented by the Post Courier.
