Despite President Trump's assertion that the strait remains open, 92 ships have been turned back by the US naval blockade since mid-July, with three disabled and two boarded for embargo compliance checks. Uncertainty persists as a framework for peace talks agreed upon in June quickly collapsed amidst continued clashes. Iran has announced plans to establish a restricted zone in the Persian Gulf, prohibiting ships approaching the Strait of Hormuz.
