Stockholm’s public transport authority, SL, is facing disruption to bus routes in the city’s western and northern districts due to the weight of its newly introduced electric buses. The buses are too heavy for two bridges connecting the areas, necessitating traffic diversions. These diversions are expected to cause significant delays and inconvenience for commuters. A bus driver, Jenny Färdqvist, predicted the situation would result in “chaos.” The issue centers on the bridges’ weight capacity, which the new electric buses exceed. SL is currently working to mitigate the impact of the route changes and address the infrastructure limitations. Passengers are advised to anticipate travel disruptions and allow extra time for their journeys.
