Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage will compete at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on Tuesday. Pathirage recently achieved a personal best and season-leading throw of 92.62 meters at a meet in Rome earlier in June. This distance currently ranks him eighth in the world all-time for javelin throw. Several other world leaders in their respective disciplines are also scheduled to participate in the Ostrava event. Pathirage expressed surprise at the length of his record-breaking throw. The Golden Spike meet is a prominent event on the international athletics calendar.
