Spanish police have begun evacuating a migrant camp located on El Trampolín beach in the exclave of Ceuta. The operation, involving 350 officers and the Guardia Civil including divers and boats, commenced at 8:00 AM local time and is reported to be proceeding without major incidents. Approximately 3,000 migrants who had been residing at the camp since early July are being moved to the El Tarajal border crossing. There, they are offered the choice of registering for shelter within the Spanish exclave or voluntarily returning to Morocco. This evacuation follows the clearing of a separate camp on nearby Benítez beach and addresses growing health concerns, including E. coli contamination of the water at El Trampolín beach. Local authorities aim to fully clear the beach by October 15th, amidst an ongoing migration crisis that saw an estimated 80,000 migrants enter Ceuta from Morocco in late July, with over 10,000 still remaining in the area.
