The umbrella organization for social and health care, Soste, has announced the start of change negotiations. These proceedings could lead to the termination of up to 29 employees out of a total staff of 31. The organization's board chair, Hanna Markkula-Kivisilla, criticized the timing of government funding decisions. She described it as unreasonable that final information regarding next year's grants will not be available until December or January. This financial instability has raised the specter of bankruptcy for the organization. When questioned by Iltalehti, the board chair defended the urgency of the layoffs. This occurs despite the Prime Minister's statement that the government is still reviewing the criteria for assistance.
