Slovenia’s new government has lifted a previous ban on arms trade with Israel, a move welcomed by Israeli officials. The decision also includes removing entry restrictions that had been placed on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and far-right ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir. Furthermore, Slovenia will no longer prohibit the import of products originating from Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Slovenian authorities stated these changes are intended to facilitate a return to normal political dialogue with Israel. The previous restrictions were implemented by the prior Slovenian government in response to Israeli policies towards Palestinians. Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer praised the decision as a “just” one.
