A new via ferrata has opened near Jelšava, Slovakia, close to a UNESCO-listed cave system. The project cost €18,600 and is intended to increase visitor numbers to the Gemer region. This area is currently less frequented by tourists compared to other parts of Slovakia. The via ferrata is expected to attract adventure tourism enthusiasts and boost the local economy. Officials hope the new attraction will highlight the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Gemer. The opening represents an investment in sustainable tourism development for the region. It aims to diversify tourism offerings beyond the well-known cave.
