Recordings of phone calls made by businessman Marian Kočner from jail to Peter Tóth were played in court Tuesday. The calls occurred during key moments in the investigation into the 2018 murders of journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée, Martina Kušnírová. Specifically, the calls took place around the times of the arrests of those accused of the murders, as well as Alena Zsuzsová, who is also implicated in the case. Kočner’s reaction to the arrests of the suspects was captured with a simple “Fúha” – an interjection expressing surprise or relief. The content of the calls is being examined as part of the ongoing legal proceedings against Kočner, who is accused of ordering the killings. Authorities are analyzing the frequency and timing of the communications to determine their significance. The released information suggests a close connection between Kočner and Tóth during the critical stages of the investigation.
