A new iteration of Slovakia’s business registry, intended to enhance entrepreneur privacy, has inadvertently exposed sensitive personal information. Launched on August 17th under revised regulations, the registry now publicly displays dates of birth. Critically, it also allows the download of documents containing national identification numbers and signature samples. This directly contradicts the stated aim of increased privacy protection for business owners. The unintended consequences raise significant data security and identity theft concerns. Officials have not yet commented on the scope of the data exposure or plans for remediation. The situation is prompting calls for an immediate review of the registry’s data handling procedures.
