Singapore’s ComfortDelGro has initiated free rides on its driverless shuttles in the Punggol North estate. The initial phase features a route with three designated stops, serving residents and providing a first-phase trial of the autonomous vehicle technology. A more extensive route, incorporating seven stops, is scheduled to commence operations on July 1st. This expansion aims to broaden the service’s reach and gather further data on the shuttle’s performance in a real-world environment. The service is intended to improve last-mile connectivity within the residential area. ComfortDelGro anticipates the shuttles will offer a convenient and sustainable transportation option for Punggol residents. The project is part of Singapore’s broader Smart Nation initiative, focused on leveraging technology to enhance urban living.
