A new partnership is exploring the use of high-nutrition, locally-produced food – including Temasek Rice and jade perch – for national consumption. The initiative aims to bolster Singapore’s food security by potentially incorporating these products into meals served on flights, in schools, and to National Servicemen (NSmen). Research institute TLL developed these products, focusing on enhanced nutritional value and local production capabilities. The collaboration will investigate the feasibility of scaling up production and integrating the food into existing supply chains. This move signifies a commitment to reducing reliance on imports and strengthening the nation’s self-sufficiency in food sources. Further research will determine logistical and cost-effectiveness aspects of widespread implementation. The partnership represents a step towards a more resilient and sustainable food system for Singapore.
