Sibanye Stillwater has admitted to pumping water into an active chrome pit operated by Androsol Mining. The mining giant claims the action was necessary to prevent a potential dam collapse. However, Androsol asserts that the discharge caused R67 million in damages to equipment and ore. The incident has reportedly disrupted a critical supply chain, threatening the jobs of 260 workers. Androsol further alleges that regulators, police, and government departments failed to respond to the crisis. The dispute highlights a significant conflict between the two mining entities over operational safety and financial loss.
